May the night sea be still, and faith in the harbour. Red, as she looks out on the palette sky. Watching days go by and waiting, like a restless wave. And the day is crawling onward, sundown fulfils her promise. When she sleeps, she dreams of open water. Sunrise is her only foe, just like a restless wave. He was torn by a splinter, from a fracture. Watch as you go, be his frailty a reminder. Balancing on a rope, my darling like a restless wave.

about

‘Bellany’ is a concept album exploring the life and work of the late Scottish painter, John Bellany.

Born in Port Seton in 1942, John created a versatile and significant volume of work throughout his life. His paintings intertwined with his own colourful nature, a mixture of joy and darkness.

Throughout ‘Bellany’, the listener is implored to discover the people and places that held much significance to John, as an artist but also as an individual.

The 28th of August 2023 marks ten years since John’s death and this album is a tribute to him and his catalogue of work.
